On your birthday

Good morning! It's an amazingly beautiful morning here in NH, and though I'll take advantage a bit and do some things around the yard I'm hoping to find time to head to the basement and create a bit. First a card for Unscripted Sketches to share today:

I loved this sketch and since we encourage everyone to flip it, rotate it and make it your own, I turned it and it came together on it's own. Don't you love when that happens? Check out what the rest of the DT created this week and then head to Unscripted Sketches to play along yourself. Have a fabulous weekend!

Doodles

Karen's Doodles has finally launched, along with the Doodle Divas Gallery featuring a Bigsby creation by me (card I posted HERE) and many projects by some other talented ladies. The site is a work in progress, but the images that have been shared so far are just fabulous. I can't wait to see all the other images Karen has because this mouse is too cute!

OWH Hop

Good morning! Every Saturday I have my Unscripted Sketches post but today is special because it's also a stop on the hop for the Operation Write Home Veteran's Day blog hop. Whether your here for the sketch or the hop I hope you'll take time to check out my card and leave some love.

If you want to do the whole hop, be sure to start at the TOP OF THE HOP!

This week's sketch is a great one that I'll use again, whether for a card or a layout:

I had fun with the sketch making a retro Christmas card that will be an Any Hero card. While it's past the deadline to send in Christmas cards to OWH for heroes to write home, you can still write a message to a soldier so they get a holiday greeting.

I'm hoping this will brighten their day with all those shiny embossed ornaments, and a crazy tree! Be sure to head to Unscripted Sketches to see all the rest of the DT's amazing work and play along yourself, but there's lots more hopping to do so you may just want to bookmark it. You can also visit the DT by clicking on their names on my sidebar -------------> This week US is also welcomeing Heather to the team so show her some love while you're at it.

The next stop on the hop is Kay so head on over to see what she's got in store for you. Her cards are beautiful and she's got a great love for all the military in her heart so I can't wait to hop there myself. I also hear there's TONS of candy on this hop so I better get to it.....

Introducing Bigsby

In addition to a bit of rest and cleaning yesterday I happened to find time to finally make a card with this great digital image that Dawn recently shared with me.

This is Bigsby the Mouse, a digital image made by Dawn's friend Karen, and this weekend they are launching a site for these images. You can read more about it HERE. I love this mouse and had fun coloring him with my colored pencils. Nothing fancy for this first grade teacher! The picture doesn't show it well but I embossed the edge of the plate with gold--there's something about a plate with gold edges that says Christmas to me. Then I found this Cookies for Santa ribbon by chance at Michael's yesterday. It was meant to be!

If you have a sweet tooth like me (and this mouse) be sure to hop over the Patti's. Holy blog candy is all I can say! I'm off to reaquaint myself with the couch now...still not 100% so I better rest up a bit more.

Sketch It Saturday

Is anyone else as excited as I am that today is Saturday??? That means another Unscripted Sketch to share, this one courtesy of the very talented Keri Lee. Of course I took liberties with the sketch and eliminated one element but if you don't tell I won't either.

I used one of the Christmas tags on this card, and kept it simple with the fun striped paper reminding me of old time Christmases. Well, at least how I imagine them! Be sure to head over to Unscripted Sketches to check out this week's sketch, see the rest of the DT's fabulous work and don't forget to stop and wish Steph a Happy Birthday! (especially since my card to her will be late!)

Next Saturday not only will I be sharing an Unscripted Sketches card, but I'll also be part of a HUGE blog hop for Operation Write Home....so be sure to come back and check it out next week!

Christmas tags

I've been holed up at home all week (except for the morning I THOUGHT I was healthy) and have hardly anything creative to show for it. Just a couch that forever has the indentation of my sick, napping body. I did manage to make some Christmas tags from my aunt's RAK last night, mainly because it required a bit of glue and not much energy.
Some of these definitely will be adorning presents under the tree and homemade goodies, but I think I'll use some of them for Christmas cards. I just love the sparkle and hate for it to be thrown out with the wrap! But that is a project for another day because I'm wiped out and need to get some rest. I'm attempting to go to school tomorrow, knowing I have the weekend to recover. Be sure to come back Saturday for a fun Unscripted Sketch!
